To morph from a mermaid/merman to a true Mer, or Water Spirit, a Mer must get his or her own wand from the bottom of the sea. To do this, they must fight their way through several tough places, including the Shark's Trench. At the bottom, the Mer must find his or her wand among a lot of look-alikes. If a Mer chooses the wrong wand, they will be eaten by the wand's gardian, a ancient Shark. If they choose right, a Mer is now an official Water Spirit.
